Synopsis:
Shyam (Sunil Shetty) is trying to land a job in a bank, where his late father used to work. Raju (Akshay Kumar) is also struggling by doing odd jobs around the city while his mom lives in an old age home and thinks that he is a successful businessman in Calcutta. Both of them become tenants in Babu Rao Apte''s (Paresh Rawal) house, a large hearted, debt-stricken alcoholic who owns a garage.
Shyam is heavily into debt and must compete for the bank job with Anuradha Panikar (Tabu). Anuradha, who''s father also passed away, is supporting her mother and siblings, and is also struggling to make ends meet. Seeing her problems, Shyam backs off and lets her take the job at the bank. Meanwhile, Shyam is in debt for thirty five thousand which he owes Kharak Singh (Om Puri), who has just recently come to town looking for him.
Then what? A feared Mafia man, Kabeera (Gulshan Grover) kidnaps the grand child of an big industrialist (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) and dials up this trio demanding the ransom (it''s the wrong number). Now all three find themselves in an interesting position. After contemplating their situations and their ethics, they let greed triumph and work as middleman to broker a deal between Kabeera and the Industrialist, working in enough profit for them forget their troubles.
The rest of the movie follows their hilarious antics and entanglements with the Police, the Gangster and everyone else involved.
