Synopsis:
The film begins with a focus on Rohit (Hritik Roshan), an orphan, who lives with his younger brother, Amit (Abhishek Sharma), in a room rented from the kindly D’Souzas (Farida Jalal, Satish Shah).
Rohit has a dream to become a singer. Like it happens to many young men in the movies, he spots his beloved (Sonia, Amisha Patel) one fine day and falls head over heels in love with her. The two even get stranded on a magnificent island and dream about a life with each other.
Mr. Saxena (Anupam Kher) is a bad guy and Sonia is his daughter. He is always pampering his daughter with whatever money can buy.
Shinde (Ashish Vidyarthi) and Kadam (Mohnish Behl) are two Police Inspectors with unhindered power at their disposal, they smuggle narcotics et al with the nexus of Mr. Shakti (Dalip Tahil) and Saxena. They murder the commissioner of police and Rohit, an eyewitness to the crime, is subsequently bumped off.
A distraught Sonia is deported to New Zealand, where she bumps into suave and stylish Raj (Hritik in double role). The two come down to India. Saxena and his thugs mistake Raj for Rohit and start following him. The rest is just like any other such film. After lot of maar-dhaad the film concludes.
The highlight of the film is Hritik Roshan who has good screen presence. He has acted quite well considering that this is his debut film. And, he is a brilliant dancer.
Amisha Patel has nothing much to do. She is just a glam-doll and is OK in her role as a chirpy, spoilt 18 year old. There is nothing much to say about the rest of the cast. Anupam Kher has been wasted. So are the others who play the bad guys.
